The Presidents' Letters: An Unexpected History of Ireland a treasure trove of letters to and from Ireland's nine Presidents from 1938 to the present day. MacCarthy will be in New York on Monday to launch her critically acclaimed book at the Irish Consulate.

This week, Fergus O'Dowd travelled to Washington DC along with Irish and Irish American representatives to meet with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and several US Congressional leaders, who say unilateral British action will undermine congressional support for a US-UK trade deal. Representatives from the Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH), Sinn Fein MP for North Belfast, John Finucane and Relatives for Justice also attended the meeting.
